Spotlight on Lewis Fisher and Nick Heaton

There are some afternoons where the opposition bats first, the bowlers and fielders get them out for a low score, and then the Taplow batting is dominated by the opening partnership, allowing everyone else to sit back, relax and admire what they are seeing.

Les Andrew captured two examples of this during the 2013 season in a series of stunning images.

The first was a home league match when Taplow 2s met Denham 2s on 25 May 2013. Denham batted first, scoring a modest 109-9 from 45 overs. Dale Barton (3-13) and Alastair Hill (3-16) were top wicket takes, with Dani Mehmood, Callum Stay and Alice MacLeod taking one wicket each.

Lewis Fisher led the Taplow reply, scoring 68 in an opening partnership of 103 with Ed Hedley (26 not out). Dale Barton came in to take Taplow to a comfortable victory.

The second match was another league game, away to Winchmore Hill on 3 August 2013. Winchmore batted first and reached another modest total of 124 all out. Jack Sahota was top wicket taker with 4-32, with Dale Barton (3-22), Les Andrew (1-11) and Callum Stay (1-2) also taking wickets.

In reply, Lewis Fisher was again involved, this time with Nick Heaton – and on this occasion Nick Heaton finished on 92 not out with Lewis Fisher 32 not out.
