A successful Saturday, with both league teams winning.
The First XI were away to Chesham 3rds at Coleshill. Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Taplow scored 262/8, with Ben Daglish top scorer with 79 not out. Chesham were bowled out for 198, with wickets from Naveed Akram (4/39), Fahim Khan (3/46), Josh Field (2/49) and Ed Atkins (1/31). The win lifted Taplow to second place in their division.
The Second XI were at home to Bracknell United. Taplow won the toss and put Bracknell into bat; after a slow start, Bracknell reached 237/8. In reply, Taplow reached their target in 45 overs.
On Sunday, The Stage were our visitors for a fixture that stretches back many years. Batting first, Taplow scored 252/7, with skipper Dale Barton top scorer with 101, retired. The Stage were bowled out for 165, with Josh Duckworth taking 6/61 and brother Ethan 3/40.

There was disappointment and frustration for the First XI when opponents Princes Risborough conceded on the morning of the match, giving Taplow the maximum 25 points – but leaving the players without a game for the second week running.
The Second XI had more joy, playing Henley 3rds at Nettlebed. Put into bat, Taplow scored 274/9 declared, with Haider Ali top scorer on 93. Henley were bowled out for 183, with Asad Ali taking 5/45.
On Sunday morning, Taplow Under 13 Swans lost to Royal Ascot, and in the afternoon the Sunday XI lost to HJM.

Wet weather caused disruption to weekend cricketing activities.
On Saturday morning, the first XI match away to High Wycombe at Princes Risborough, and the Under 11s game at home, were both casualties of the heavy overnight rain.
The forecast for the afternoon looked better, and the second XI match at home to Kidmore End 2nd eventually got underway at around 3.30 p.m. In a reduced overs game, Taplow were put into bat, scoring 253/8 from 32 overs. In reply Kidmore End reached 237/7 from 38 overs, leaving the match drawn. However the match was subsequently awarded to Kidmore End as Taplow had fielded an ineligible player.
The heavy showers returned on Sunday morning. The Under 13s match at home to Crowthorne and Crown Wood got underway, but was abandoned after 15 overs. The Sunday XI match with new opponents Toka CC was also cancelled.
On Thursday evening, the Under 11s won by 42 runs at home to Farnham Royal.

A disappointing end to June, with defeats for Taplow in the league.
The first XI lost at home to Farnham Common by 10 wickets. The second XI travelled to Wargrave and lost by 72 runs.
The Sunday XI match with Harrow on the Hill was cancelled.
On Wednesday evening, the Under 11s got July off to a fine start with a 121 run win away to Royal Ascot.

A satisfying weekend for Taplow Cricket Club, with wins for both league teams and the Sunday side.
Pride of place went to the Second XI, who deserved their first win of the season against league leaders, Thatcham Town 2nds. Taplow won the toss and put the visitors into bat; Thatcham scored 261/7 from 52 overs. In reply, Taplow chased down the required runs in 40.3 overs.
The first team won away at Chalfont St. Peter. Batting first, Taplow scored 230 (Zahoor Ahmad 64). Chalfont were bowled out for 194 (Farhad Abbas 5/56, Junaid Khan 4/64). The win lifted Taplow to second in the table.
The Sunday XI had a comfortable win against Tabard Pilgrims. Taplow scored 236 (Dale Barton 100 not out, retired). Tabard Pilgrims were all out for 120 (Ethan Duckworth 5/26).
On Wednesday evening, Taplow completed their pool matches in the Julian Cup with a win at home to Pinkneys Green.

After some disappointing results, the first team recorded an excellent win at home against Chenies & Latimer, winning by 5 runs in a tense finish. Chenies came to Taplow as league leaders and with a reputation as high scorers.
The start was delayed by 30 minutes after a sudden downpour soaked the field, and showers were never far away throughout the afternoon.
Fielding a much changed team due to availability, Taplow scored 190, with Zahoor Ahmad the top scorer on 57.
That score didn’t look enough – but a superb effort in the field by Taplow saw wickets start to tumble, with good fielding and catching supporting the bowlers who kept the pressure on Chenies. An exciting finish saw Chenies needing 16 runs to win, while Taplow needed 3 more wickets – and it was Taplow who came out on top.
Fahim Khan took 4/63, with Junaid Khan 2/35, Josh Field 2/38 and Abdul Raheem 2/27 taking the other wickets.
The second XI travelled to Boyne Hill, losing by 7 wickets.
The Sunday XI played Warfield. Taplow scored 234 (Dale Barton 95). Warfield were all out for 120.

The fifth round of the Thames Valley Cricket League matches, and two more defeats for Taplow.
The first XI visited Hillingdon Manor and lost by 156 runs. At Taplow, the second XI lost to Sulhamstead & Ufton 2nds by 6 wickets.
On Sunday morning the under 11s, Taplow under 11 Cygnets, played their first match, losing by 19 runs to Maidenhead & Bray.
In the afternoon, the Sunday XI played Ebury Strollers. Ebury Strollers hit an impressive 299; in reply, Taplow scored 255 (Dale Barton 84, Simon Goodrham 81).

The fourth round of the Thames Valley Cricket League matches brought double frustration for the Taplow teams in their matches, both against Slough.
At Taplow, the first XI lost by 5 wickets to Slough 3rd XI, whilst the second XI suffered another narrow defeat, losing by 13 runs at Slough against Slough 4th XI.
Sunday saw the sun shining – and with it came an improvement in fortune.
In the morning, Taplow Under 13 Swans won by 12 runs against Wraysbury.
In the afternoon, new visitors, Chiltern Crusaders, stepped in to replace our scheduled opponents, Farnham Royal. The Taplow Sunday team recorded another win, scoring 228/6, and bowling Crusaders out for 166. It was another good afternoon for the Duckworth family, with Peter Duckworth scoring his second century of the season (103) and Josh Duckworth taking 4 wickets for 26.
On Wednesday evening, Taplow visited Marlow in the Julian Cup. In a nail-biting finish, Taplow needed 3 runs to win from 7 balls with 1 wicket remaining – but, this time, it was not to be, with Marlow winning by 2 runs.

The third round of Thames Valley Cricket League matches brought disappointment for Taplow.
The first XI travelled to Cookham Dean. Cookham won the toss and elected to bat on a good batting wicket, reaching 276/5 from their 45 overs. The Taplow reply could not get going and were all out for 202.
At Taplow, the second XI fell to a 6 run defeat by Sonning 2nds. Sonning won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 258/8. Taplow’s reply came so close – 252/9 in their 45 overs.
On Sunday, the bank holiday visitors were Shoreham by Sea, led by Tom Lightfoot. In a reduced overs match, due to weather, Taplow batted first scoring 207/8 from 35 overs; Shoreham reached 156/8 in the same number of overs.
On Wednesday evening, Taplow began their Julian Cup campaign with an away win at Burnham. Taplow won in the final over. Adee Aslam took 4 wickets for 9 runs.

The second round of the Thames Valley Cricket League matches brought mixed results for Taplow.
The first XI were at home to Chesham 3s. Winning the toss, Taplow put Chesham in to bat, bowling them out for 144. Josh Field, playing in his second league match for Taplow, took 5/32.
In reply, Taplow got off to a quick start, reaching 60 from the first 8 overs. Wickets then started to tumble and it was left to Raman Rathore (43 not out) and Adil Raja to see Taplow home for their second win.
The second XI found things more difficult away to Bracknell, chasing a large total and losing by 147 runs.
The Sunday XI played a return match with Uxbridge Casuals, reversing their fortunes from last week with a convincing win. Batting first, Taplow scored 245, with Peter Duckworth not out on 103. The return of Chintan Gurjar (3/26) and Josh Duckworth (3/52) to the bowling line up helped Taplow dismiss the Casuals for 184.

The 2024 Thames Valley Cricket League season got underway on May 11.
In the first round of matches, Taplow first XI had a comfortable 10 wicket victory away at Princes Risborough – but club captain Rob Court sustained a dislocated shoulder in only the 9th over and will be out for some time.
Batting first, Princes Risborough were all out for 69, with Junaid Khan taking 4 wickets. Taplow’s openers, Farhan Qureshi and Aamir Rehman got the required runs in less than 9 overs.
Meanwhile at Taplow, the second XI lost against visitors Henley 3rds. Henley were bowled out for 175 in 32 overs; in reply Taplow were all out for 160 in 39 overs.
